The main objective of this study was to improve the competence of junior high school math teacher RSBI through Lesson Study. More specifically, this study aims to describe the work done in improving the competence of pedagogical, professional and social development in middle school mathematics teachers RSBI through Lesson Study.

Teacher competencies are developed based on recommendations from Cocroft Report (1982: 132) include: 1. method of discussion, between teachers and pupils and between pupils and students.; 2. methods of problem solving (problem solving); and 3. Method of discovery (investigation). For Bantul Junior High School math teacher, the stresses on teachers' competence development aspects of problem solving activities on the RME approach to improve the competence of the attitude of a Class VIII student mathematical thinking. As for I Wates Junior High School math teacher, competencies developed discussion emphasizes the application of the method on realistic approach to mathematics education (RME) method to improve the competence of the class VIII student mathematical thinking. As for I Galur junior high school mathematics teacher, stresses developed competence to investigate the activities realistic approach to mathematics education (RME) to improve the competence of mathematical thinking in the field of Class VIII student content.

Teacher Competencies developed include: 1. Develop a realistic approach to mathematics competence, 2. Developing Mathematical Thinking competence and 3. Competence developed a method of discussion, between teachers and pupils and between pupils and students, methods of problem solving and the method of discovery (investigation). Teacher competence in the field of developing Mathematics Realistics approach include: the use of the real world to explore mathematical concepts, the formation of mathematical concepts, builder mathematics knowledge, and developing formal mathematics in the abstract form.

Teacher competence in the field of developing mathematical thinking attitude, include: trying to ask, trying to understand a mathematical problem, trying to find a mathematical problem, try to solve mathematical problems, trying to link mathematics with each other, trying to use the data to solve the problem, try to record & communicate the activities solving problems, trying to organize & arrange the objects of mathematics. Competence of teachers in the development of problem solving activities which successfully developed include: making math relevant to / be able to explore the mathematics of everyday life - the day, able to use mathematics to solve everyday problems, able to use various sources of learning, the idea / problem-solving ideas are pure or derived from his own experience, able to solve mathematical problems or issues, and translate the mathematical problem. Teacher competence in the field of development of mathematical thinking method is successfully developed include: inductive thinking, analogous thinking, deductive thinking, integrative thinking, thinking developed, abstract thinking, thinking simplify, make conclusions, think about a special case, using the symbol, and use statements with numbers, quantity and images.
