Dynamic development of the
Indonesian nation nowadays, demanding that curriculum development need to pay
attention to: current issues in education, the issues arising in the field,
variation of schools, educational personnel, interests and abilities of
students, and also demands of social development, science and technology .
Competency-based mathematics education emphasizes the skills that should be
possessed by graduates; so that the curriculum was developed based on the
elaboration of competency standards to be basic skills.Breath of competency-based curriculum is the development of a learning experience first-hand, contextual teaching and learning (CT & L), meaningful teaching, with attention to life skills in the form of generic skills (personal skills, social skills, academic skills and proficiency skills) . In order to meet the demands of learning mathematics in general education innovation, Ebbutt and Straker (1995: 10-63) defines school mathematics, here in after referred to as math, as follows:
1. Mathematics as search activity
patterns and relationships
2. Mathematics as creativity that requires imagination,
intuition and invention
3. Mathematics as problem-solving
activities
4. Mathematics as a tool to
communicate

Competency standards that need to be achieved by high school students / MAN are:
CLASS: 1 (ALGEBRA)
Using the operations and the nature
and manipulation of algebra in solving problems relating to the form of dub,
roots, and logarithms; quadratic equations and quadratic functions; system of
linear equations - quadratic; inequalities with one variable; mathematical
logic
CLASS: 1 (TRIGONOMETRI)
Using the comparison, functions,
equations, and trigonometric identities in problem solving.
CLASS: 1 (GEOMETRY)
Using nature and rules of geometry
in determining the position of point, line and field; distance; angles, and
volume.
CLASS: 2 (STATISTICS AND PROBABILITY)
Using statistical rules in the
present and summarize data in various ways and member commentary; compile, and
use the enumeration rules in determining many possibilities; and use the rules
of chance in determining and interpreting the incidence of multiple opportunities
CLASS: 2 (TRIGONOMETRI)
CLASS: 2 (TRIGONOMETRI)
Using algebraic manipulation to
design and develop evidence trigonometric formulas.
CLASS: 2 (ALGEBRA)
Develop and use the equation of a
circle and its tangent line; use the division algorithm, remainder theorem and
factor theorem in solving problems; use and manipulation of algebraic
operations in solving problems associated with the function composition and
inverse functions
CLASS: 2 (CALCULUS)
Using the concept of limit and
derivative functions and in solving problems.
CLASS: 3 (CALCULUS)
Using the integral concept in
problem solving
CLASS: 3 (ALGEBRA)
Designing and using a mathematical
model of a linear program and use the properties and rules relating to the
line, series, matrices, vectors, transformations, exponential functions and
logarithms in solving problems.
Learning Unit (SP) is a translation in a more operational than the syllabus into fragments operationally learning activities that can be done by the teacher. Learning program is a plan classroom activities designed by teachers which contains step-by-step scenario of what will be done with students.
