Lesson Study (Jugyo Sinkekyu)
has developed hundreds of years in Japan and now has spread throughout the
world, is a multi-level approach to improve the quality of learning. Lesson
Study is a basic element of cooperation, good cooperation among teachers,
teacher cooperation with lecturers and cooperation between institutions such as
schools, universities, MGMP or the Department of Education. With
these basic elements of the Lesson Study has various benefits such as: to
improve the professionalism of teachers, to improve the quality of learning, to
develop the potential and serve the learning needs of students, to develop a
variety of props or teaching aids, etc.. Cooperation
based on self-disclosure was developed by teachers for reflection and
communication processes and learning outcomes. Therefore
Lesson Study can be viewed as an improvement activity and by learning from the
teacher.
Given the variety of abilities,
potential and the difficulties experienced by children with special needs, then
it is logical that the development of learning certainly requires more
attention. In
relation to the matter that was probably Lesson Study offers a medium-term and
long-term solutions to obtain a mathematical learning in accordance with the
characteristics of children with special needs.
Some problems of mathematics learning for children with special needs such as learning material also occur if the other revolves around the utilization and processing mathematical information, using information related to mathematics, given some understanding or mathematical procedures, looking for a relationship and using mathematics. Another problem associated with physical or other constraints, can be derived from the likelihood they can not read well, do not understand the meaning or intent emblems or symbols of mathematics, can not concentrate or focus and can not control themselves.
This is where the role of a Lesson Study, a role if we assume that the Lesson Study is also the research activities on education. Lesson Study as a study will provide an opportunity for teachers to discuss the preparation of learning, implement and reflect at the same time. Teacher or group of teachers in MGMP can agree to observe the learning from a teacher who was chosen as a model teacher. Observation of activities is beneficial to record all aspects of learning in order to obtain benefits for the improvement of learning the next. Therefore, the results of Lesson Study can be useful for improving curriculum and the syllabus, textbooks, learning resources and others.
